PROJECT PORTFOLIO
Chaffee Wastewater Project
Location: Cummins Drive
Size: 40 Acres
Value: $2,421,635
Completed
Work began in August 2019 to upgrade the Chaffee Wastewater Treatment Facility to meet more stringent effluent limits. The existing treatment facility was a four-cell facultative lagoon and the new project enhanced the lagoon treatment capability with the addition of a MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) along with a discharge lift station and UV (Ultra-Violet) disinfection system. The new mechanical equipment is housed under a new 1500 square feet open sided building. The new treatment equipment is designed to receive water from the final tertiary lagoon cell and then flow through the MBBR tank to drum filters and then to the UV system for the final stage of treatment. The upgrade wastewater treatment system will be placed in operation in January of 2021. The upgrades will provide the City of Chaffee an updated wastewater facility that can meet new effluent limits for ammonia and E-coli. The project also includes an alternate bid item to remove sludge from the tertiary cell of the lagoon and a change order item to replace deteriorated transfer pipes between the primary, secondary and tertiary cells of the lagoon.
