PROJECT PORTFOLIO
Walnut Ridge Waste Water
Location: 1002 W Oak Street
Size: 10 acres
Value: $4,100,000
Completion: May 2022
Treatment Facility to a new mechanical treatment facility. The new system will be a Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) system with automated controls and a new Operations and Maintenance building. The project will include the construction of a new headworks structure with a spiral screen and manual screen bypass along with three – 65’ diameter SBR tanks that have automated controls and valves. The new SBR system includes a new four-blower aeration system that provides the aeration supply to all three SBR tanks along with large motive pumps that provide circulation for each tank and waste activated sludge pumps to handle waste for each tank.
The effluent will be discharged through a modified and improved concrete detention basin that includes chemical injection and post aeration. The project includes a rammed aggregate pier foundation system under the SBR tanks and headworks structure. The earthwork also includes approximately 6000 cubic yards of off-site fill material that will bring the facility grade above flood stage. The new operations and maintenance building will include concrete block construction with a standing seam roof. The operations building will house the chemical injection equipment and provide a small lab area for necessary testing by the operators. The electrical upgrades for the facility include a new three phase electrical service along with a new 300 kW backup generator that is diesel powered and will provide the City of Walnut Ridge with adequate power to fully operate the wastewater treatment facility during potential power outages.
